About Me

Prajwol Manandhar is a Bioinformatics Manager at CMDN/Intrepid and a dedicated leopard researcher. He has an MSc degree in Bioinformatics from University of Tampere, Finland and has been leading bioinformatics section at CMDN since eight years, along with being an important part of the team developing wildlife genetics programs in Nepal. He has extensively worked on projects concerning one health, biodiversity, and pathogen genomics utilizing latest genomics technologies such as metagenomics, whole genome resequencing, population genetics and phylogenetics, along with expertise on Sanger, Nanopore and Illumina sequencing
technologies. He has been researching on leopards in the Nepalese Himalayas with various genomics-based tools to understand ecology, evolution, human-leopard interactions and contribute to leopard conservation. He has received a grant from the Rufford Foundation for his leopard study. He has also collaborated on various other biodiversity projects and published multiple papers in ecology, molecular forensics, gut microbiota, antimicrobial resistance and evolutionary biology of various wildlife of Nepal and travelled across different terrains in the Himalayas for his research expeditions.
