The conference, set to take place later this year, will bring together experts from various fields in biotechnology to discuss and exchange ideas on emerging trends and research findings in the industry.
Prajwol Manandhar is a Bioinformatics Manager at CMDN/Intrepid and a dedicated leopard researcher. He has an MSc degree in Bioinformatics from University of Tampere, Finland and has been leading bioinformatics section at CMDN since eight years, along with being an important part of the team developing wildlife genetics programs in Nepal. He has extensively worked on projects concerning one health, biodiversity, and pathogen genomics utilizing latest genomics technologies such as metagenomics, whole genome resequencing, population genetics and phylogenetics, along with expertise on Sanger, Nanopore and Illumina sequencing technologies. He has been researching on leopards in the Nepalese Himalayas with various genomics-based tools to understand ecology, evolution, human-leopard interactions and contribute to leopard conservation. He has received a grant from the Rufford Foundation for his leopard study. He has also collaborated on various other biodiversity projects and published multiple papers in ecology, molecular forensics, gut microbiota, antimicrobial resistance and evolutionary biology of various wildlife of Nepal and travelled across different terrains in the Himalayas for his research expeditions.
The organizers of the First National Biotechnology Conference 2023 expressed excitement in having Prajwal Manandhar as one of their speakers, saying that his expertise and experience in the field would add value to the conference.
