About Me
Mr. Ramesh Basnet is Senior Research Officer at the Department of Plant Resources/DPR under Ministry of Forests and Environment Nepal. He has M.Sc. in Botany (specialized in Plant Biotechnology and Plant Biochemistry) from Tribhuwan University, Nepal in 2005. Besides, he has 19 years work experiences in the DPR particularly Wetland Flora Documentation, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants/MAPs Good Agriculture and Collection Practices/GACP and Extension. He was the Chief at 3 Offices namely the District Plant Resources Office, Salyan (2005-2009); the National Herbarium and Plant Laoratory, Godavary, Lalitpur (2015-2017); and the Plant Research Centre, Jumla (2020-2022). He has completed the 59th UNEP/UNESCO/BMU International Short Course on Environment Management for Developing and Emerging Countries, “Nature Protection and Conservation of Biodiversity” held in Dresden, Germany in 2013. And he has visited different Herbarium of Japan, India and China during Conference and Training. He has more than 30 popular articles mostly in the local (Nepali) language the that links plants knowledge and access benefit sharing issues to the people. Recently, the DPR has awarded him as one of the best researchers on the ocassion of Plant Resources Day, April 12, 2023.
